Remember that post about fatigue? And how I succumbed to it all weekend? Well what I was missing during that read, work and sleepfest was pretty much the best thing ever.
Seriously.
It was the 3rd Second Annual Grilled Cheese Invitational , an event hosted by a group of friends and freaks in L.A. who remind me why it's cool to be geeky and geeky to be cool.
For example? My friend Linda. She wore a black corset top and a skirt made of cheddar cheese singles to the event (I know this because I know how to look at pictures. Rememer, while the cheese was a' grillin', I was at home crying about missing it—and then reading my book.)
Is it the most fashionable skirt? Probably not. The most flattering? Well, it's not unflattering, but I've seen her look more conventionally sexy in a long black slinky number. And I don't think Viking Hats have come back into style yet. But could there be anything sexier than the vision that imagined this outfit, the ingenuity required to put it together, and the chutzpah to wear it out of the house? Let alone the brilliantly cheesy (pun intended) sense of humor required to get a kick out of this? I love it. I love every morsel of it. Which is why missing the GCI— and more importantly, missing a chance to write about the once-a-year event— was a heartbreak.
Sigh.
Maybe next year. At the 4th Second Annual Grilled Cheese Invitational.
I want to go next year. And I'm bringing a mouse.
